Fishing Seminars, Workshops &Training by Pro Guide Tom Neustrom
It all started back in 1976, when Tom Neustrom was first asked to speak to a local fishing club in Antioch, Illinois about his fishing techniques and tips. Tom began giving seminars to other clubs in and around the Chicago-Milwaukee area and over the years became more and more sought after for seminars and training.
In 1979, Tom moved from Chicago to Grand Rapids, Minnesota, where he continued to guide and began his association with Minnesota-based In-Fisherman Magazine. Owners Al and Ron Lindner had established a learning mechanism for anglers that combined television, magazine, radio and video. They assembled a group of anglers that went to sport shows, fishing clubs and anywhere they were requested to teach people how to better catch fish. Tom became a part of the In-Fisherman process of teaching anglers to be better multi-species fishermen.
For several years Tom spent most of his winter months on the road at Sport Shows. He led seminars for thousands of people and constantly promoted his sponsor’s products at trade-show booths and at workshops. Tom has also been involved in presentations to tackle related companies on product enhancement and ideas related to the betterment of their company’s market share and positioning. Tackle companies are always looking for input from professionals as Tom and he continues to work with them in an effort to grow the sport of fishing.
Today, Tom leads fishing seminars and workshops throughout the Midwest. He has led seminars and workshops in Denver, Buffalo, N.Y., Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, Mich., Bismarck, N.D. numerous cities throughout Minnesota, and many smaller towns and cities across the Midwest.
Tom also offers an annual fishing school that covers everything from proper tackle, presentations, reading lake maps, use of electronics, fish cleaning and more. These fishing school class sizes are limited to 25-30 people so Tom can ensure one-one-one involvement from class members. Several major tackle companies contribute samples of their products for the classes.
